IRCTC PNR Enquiry Provides You The Status Of Your Ticket

IRCTC, the Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation, is a subsidiary of the Indian Railways.  You can make the IRCTC PNR enquiry of your tickets on the website of IRCTC after booking your ticket.

When you book your tickets, you may not always get a confirmed ticket. If all the seats are already filled, you will get your ticket under RAC or WL. So it is always recommended that you book your ticket well in advance so that they are not in RAC or WL.

RAC or Reservation against Cancellation status assures you a seat but not a reserved berth. You may get a berth if enough cancellations are made as the date of the journey draws near. If the ticket is on WL or waiting list status, you will not get even a sitting accommodation in the train. Only after enough cancellations are made, will you get a seat. Under such circumstances it is very important that you keep a track of the status of your tickets regularly.

PNR is a ten-digit alphanumeric number provided on the top left-hand corner of the ticket and when you check the PNR status, you have to quote this number. Once you enter this number, you will get all the details of train journey such as the train number, date of travel, boarding and destination stations, class and status of the ticket. You can find both the booking status and the current status mentioned in different columns. The IRCTC PNR enquiry keeps you updated on the status of your ticket and helps you in planning your journey effectively.
